Out of Touch Donors

The Out of Touch Donors report listing donors with the date of their last interaction
Donors with no recorded interaction in your threshold period.

Donors with no interaction of any type in the last N months, where N is your Out of touch donors setting in Preferences. Default is six months.

Note that this is about contact, not giving. A donor happily giving every month who hasn’t heard a word from you in a year appears here — and should.

Six months is the default. Consider:

  • Three months if you have a small list and high-touch relationships.
  • Six months for most people.
  • Twelve months for a very large list where six months would flag hundreds.

Whatever you choose, it should produce a list you can realistically work through. A report with 300 names on it gets ignored.

This report depends entirely on your logging

The point isn’t to send something — it’s to have a reason to.

Open the contact and look at their record before reaching out. Their last interaction notes, their giving pattern, an upcoming birthday — any of those give you a genuine opening. A “just checking in” with nothing behind it is worse than silence.

The report lets you create follow-up tasks directly, which is a good way to turn a review into scheduled work rather than a burst of activity.

Monthly. Work the top of the list — the donors who’ve been silent longest and give the most — rather than trying to clear it.
