Karani supports multiple interface languages.

Changing your language

Set your locale from your account settings. The change applies to the Karani interface — menus, labels, buttons, and system messages.

What doesn’t change

Your own data. Contact names, notes, group names, tags, task titles, and email templates stay exactly as you typed them.

That’s the right behaviour — a contact called “First Baptist Church” shouldn’t change because you switched interface language — but it does mean a shared account with users in different languages will have a translated interface around untranslated content.

Currency

Currency is separate from language. Set Display currency in Preferences.

Karani doesn't convert currencies

Changing the display currency changes the symbol, not the numbers. Gifts recorded as 100 display as 100 in whichever currency you select. If you receive gifts in more than one currency, convert them before recording, and note the original amount and rate in the gift’s notes.

Dates and number formats

These follow your locale. If dates look wrong — a day/month swap, most commonly — check your locale setting first.

For CSV imports, always use YYYY-MM-DD regardless of locale. It’s unambiguous everywhere.

International contacts

Separately from language, turn on International fields in Preferences to get a Country field and locale-aware postal codes. Do that before importing international contacts.

Missing or awkward translations

Karani’s translations are ongoing. If something is untranslated or reads badly, email support@karani.co with the page and the phrase — that’s how they get fixed.
