From Integrations, click Connect Blackbaud. You’ll authorise on Blackbaud’s site and return to Karani.

What syncs

Contact records move between the two systems, so your personal fundraising in Karani and your organisation’s central records stay aligned.

The usual pattern

In most organisations running both, Blackbaud is the institutional system of record and Karani is where individual fundraisers work. That means:

• Blackbaud is authoritative for donor identity, addresses, and official giving records.
• Karani is authoritative for your relationship work — tasks, interactions, prospect ratings, tags.

Keep your relationship notes in Karani

The things that make Karani useful — interactions, personal tags, your read on a prospect — generally have no equivalent field in the institutional system and won’t survive a sync. Keep them in Karani and don’t expect them to appear elsewhere.

Reconciling giving

Totals will differ. Common reasons are in Understanding your numbers — mostly gift date vs. processing date, and how soft credits are handled.

Duplicates

Check Potential Duplicate Contacts after your first sync.

If your organisation manages the connection

Some organisations set up the Blackbaud connection centrally rather than per fundraiser. If the integration behaves in a way this page doesn’t describe, ask whoever administers your organisation’s Karani access.
