Gifts in Karani

PayPal gifts are recorded against the matching contact where one exists, and create a new contact where none does — the same behaviour as Stripe and Paystack.

Fees

PayPal’s fees are deducted by PayPal. Karani records the gift amount the donor gave, not the net. Your Karani total will read higher than your PayPal balance by the fee amount — expected, and explained in Understanding your numbers.

Which processor should I use?

	Best for
Stripe	Most situations. Best card experience, embeddable widget, recurring gifts.
PayPal	Donors who prefer paying with a PayPal balance.
Paystack	Africa.
Zeffy	Zero platform fees, where it’s available to you.

One primary, not four

It’s tempting to offer every option. In practice a single clear giving link converts better than a menu, and it’s far less to reconcile. Pick one primary route and add others only if donors ask.
