Email overview
Karani sends email to contacts, logs what it sent, and tracks it on the contact’s timeline. It is not a bulk newsletter platform, and knowing where that line falls will save you trouble.
What Karani email is good at
Section titled “What Karani email is good at”- One-to-one messages to a contact, sent from their profile, with the message logged automatically as an interaction
- Templates for the things you write repeatedly
- Scheduled sends for messages written now and sent later
- Gift receipts emailed to donors
What to use something else for
Section titled “What to use something else for”Mass newsletters. Use Mailchimp. It handles unsubscribes, bounce processing, list hygiene, deliverability reputation, and design in a way a CRM’s email feature doesn’t. Karani syncs a group to Mailchimp so your list stays current without exporting.
Paper mail. PrayerLetters.com prints and posts from a synced Karani group, or export addresses and do it yourself.
Email and interactions
Section titled “Email and interactions”Messages sent through Karani are logged on the contact’s Communication Timeline automatically. That means the out of touch reporting stays accurate without you logging anything by hand.
Email you send from your own client isn’t visible to Karani. If it matters, log an interaction of type Email.
