Keyboard & navigation tips
Keyboard
Section titled “Keyboard”| Shortcut | Does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl K / ⌘ K | Jump to search from anywhere in Karani |
| Tab, , or Enter | Complete a tag |
The same Ctrl K works on this documentation site.
Navigating faster
Section titled “Navigating faster”Don’t scroll the contacts list. Ctrl K, three letters of the name, Enter.
Use Previous / Next on a contact profile to step through your list without going back to it. Good for working through a report.
The + buttons in the navigation go straight to the add form for contacts, tasks, and groups.
Getting more done per click
Section titled “Getting more done per click”Raise your page size. Preferences → How many items. Bulk selection only applies to what’s on screen, so 100 per page beats 15 when you’re doing anything in bulk.
Learn With Selected…. Tick contacts in any list or search result and you
can add them to a group, tag them, or change status in one action. See
Contacts overview.
Use Save and Add Another when entering a batch of contacts or gifts. It saves and hands you a blank form.
Log mailings in bulk. Bulk tasks & interactions applies one interaction to a whole group. This is the single biggest time saver in Karani, and it’s what keeps the out-of-touch reporting honest.
Habits worth building
Section titled “Habits worth building”Things people don’t discover on their own
Section titled “Things people don’t discover on their own”The notepad on your dashboard saves as you type. It’s the fastest place to put a passing thought.
Revisions on a contact profile show who changed what and when. Invaluable on a shared account.
The Communication Timeline tells you a contact’s preferred channel and how long it’s been — worth a glance before you call.
Saved searches refresh themselves. A saved search for “prospects with no interaction in 90 days” is a working list that refills as people go quiet.
The Grid exports exactly what you configure. Columns, grouping, filters, sort — see The Grid.
On a phone
Section titled “On a phone”Karani works on a phone, and it’s genuinely useful for checking a contact before a meeting or logging an interaction on the walk back to the car.
Save the wide tables — The Grid, advanced search, the importers — for a laptop.
