Exporting email addresses

As a paste-ready list

1. Open the Groups page and click the group.

2. Click Export, then Output Emails.

3. Karani shows the addresses as a semicolon-separated list.

4. Copy it and paste into the To, Cc, or Bcc field of your email program.

Use Bcc

Pasting a list of donor addresses into To or Cc shows every recipient everyone else’s email address. Use Bcc — or better, send through Mailchimp or Karani’s own email, which handle this properly and give you unsubscribe handling.

As a Mailchimp-ready CSV

1. Open the group.

2. Click Export, then Download Emails for Mailchimp.

3. A CSV downloads, formatted for Mailchimp’s importer.

4. Follow Mailchimp’s guide to import a list.

This is the manual route. If you’re going to do it more than once, connect the Mailchimp integration instead and let the group sync continuously.

Which email address gets exported

The first email address on each contact. A contact with several exports one. If the wrong one is coming out, reorder them on the contact — see Emails, phones & addresses.

Contacts with no email address are skipped.

Exporting emails for everyone, not a group

The contacts list has an Export CSV button that includes email addresses alongside every other field. See Exporting your data.

After you send

Log it. Add an interaction of type Email to the group with Bulk tasks & interactions, so the out-of-touch reports stay honest.
