Online giving links

Karani can give you a giving link — a page where supporters enter their card details and give. Gifts arrive in your account automatically, typed as Online, matched to the donor.

Two options, depending on where you are:

Connect one from Integrations, or karani.co/account/services. You’ll be sent to the processor to authorise the connection and then returned to Karani.

Once connected, go to the Finances page. Your giving link is shown there.

Use it anywhere you’d point people at a way to give:

  • In your email signature
  • In your newsletter
  • On a personal support page
  • On a printed card, as a QR code

To put the giving form directly on your own web page rather than linking out, embed it in an iframe:

<iframe
src="YOUR-GIVING-LINK"
width="100%"
height="700"
frameborder="0"
title="Give"
></iframe>

Adjust the height so the form isn’t scrollable inside the frame.

  1. The donor enters their card details on the giving page. Card data goes straight to Stripe or Paystack — Karani never touches it.

  2. The processor charges the card and deposits the funds into your connected account.

  3. Karani records a gift against the matching contact. If no contact matches the donor’s email, a new contact is created.

  4. The gift appears in your totals like any other, typed Online.

Processing fees are set by Stripe or Paystack, not by Karani, and are deducted by them. Karani records the gift amount the donor gave, not the net after fees — so your Karani total will read slightly higher than your bank deposit. That’s the correct behaviour for donor acknowledgement, and it’s a common source of “the numbers don’t match” questions. See Understanding your numbers.

Payout timing is your processor’s, and is configured in their dashboard.

Where the processor supports recurring charges, a donor can set up a repeating gift. Each charge arrives in Karani as its own gift.

Record a matching pledge for the donor so their giving is measured against a commitment, rather than showing as a series of unconnected gifts.
