Account overview

Click Settings in the left rail and you get two columns. The split matters, and it’s the thing most new users find confusing.

Karani's settings navigation, split into an Account Settings column containing Preferences, Notifications, Integrations, Data, Gift Receipt, Donor Portal, Accounting and Share Account, and a User Settings column containing Profile, Accounts and Sharing, Plan and Payment
Account settings on the left, user settings on the right.

A user is a person. That’s you — one email address, one password, one human.

An account is a funding target. Most fundraisers have one, for their own support. Some have several: their salary, plus a scholarship fund, plus a project.

Each account has its own contacts, gifts, pledges, tasks, interactions, groups, and settings. Switching between them changes everything you see.

One user can have several accounts, and one account can be shared with several users.

Settings that belong to the funding target. Change accounts and these change.
