Cancelling your account

Also worth doing:

  • Note your goal and fiscal year settings — quick to write down, annoying to reconstruct.
  • Export anything shaped the way you need it — a Grid view, a gifts report for the year.
  • Disconnect integrations you don’t want left connected, particularly ones with two-way sync.
  • Tell anyone you share with that access is ending.

Some plans can be paused rather than cancelled — for seasonal work, a sabbatical, or a gap between assignments. A paused account keeps your data intact and ready when you come back.

Email customerservice@karani.co to ask.

  1. Go to Settings → Plan.

  2. Choose to cancel your subscription.

  3. You’ll be asked for feedback. It’s optional, and it’s read.

Your subscription doesn’t renew. Access continues to the end of the period you’ve paid for.

After that your account is closed. Your data is retained for a period before removal — which is why the export matters. If you change your mind quickly, email customerservice@karani.co; the sooner you ask, the more likely your data can be restored.

Your download is plain CSV — contacts, gifts, pledges, tasks, interactions, groups — which every CRM can import.

Two things worth carrying across that people forget:

  • Interaction history. It’s the thing that took longest to accumulate.
  • Pledge start dates. Most systems compute behind-on-giving from them, and they’re the field most often lost in a move.

If something’s wrong rather than not needed

If you’re cancelling because Karani isn’t doing something you need, email support@karani.co first. It’s occasionally a setting, and it’s occasionally something they’d fix.
